Cornell’s 2019-20 Distinguished Visiting Writer Linda Oatman High, who taught a course called “Writing Young Adult Fiction: Free-Verse Illuminations of Tough Subjects” in Block 7, reads new work. Oatman High is an author/journalist/playwright who holds an MFA in Writing from Vermont College. She’s published more than 30 books for children and teens, many of which have won awards and honors. Linda was honored in England in 2012 with the Sunday Times EFG Short Story award, being the only American on a shortlist of six authors. She lives in Lancaster County, PA and teaches creative writing both nationally and internationally. www.lindaoatmanhigh.com
Eli Huckabee, who was a student in Oatman High’s course, will kick off the reading with work composed in the class. Eli is a creative writing major from Portland, Oregon. Although he lives with his parents right now, he enjoys running for Cornell and traveling. Watch out Hollywood, in two to ten years Eli will be the talk of the town.
