A message from the Geology Department:
Join us in celebrating Geology Days from March 31st to April 5th at Cornell! On Thursday, March 31st, witness the explosive power of Earth’s volcanoes with the University of Iowa’s Dr. Ingrid Peate. Continue your exploration of volcanoes on April 1st with hands-on activities and poster presentations on the OC. Test your geology knowledge with fun trivia and prizes on April 4th. Finally interact with Physical Geology students on April 5th as they demonstrate the devastating effects of geologic natural hazards.
Schedule of Events:
March 31: Ingrid Peate (U of I) will demonstrate a volcano erupting in a garbage can at 11:30 am.
April 1: The GEO 306 class (Igneous Petrology) will present posters about major volcanic eruptions around the world and will put on live-action volcano demonstrations on the OC from 11-1.
April 4: Geology Club will have a table in the Commons offering geology trivia and prizes, as well as an interactive “Geology where you Live” display from 11-1.
April 5: Students from the GEO 111 class (Physical Geology) will present live-action demonstrations and posters of major geologic hazards and their social implications on the OC from 11-1.
