FREE Microsoft Products for Cornell Students

New and Returning students! Did you know you can download MS Office Suite for free with your Cornell account?!

Director of IT Mike Cereveny emailed all students about it earlier this summer, but if you missed it, here’s what to know:
As part of our campus licensing with Microsoft, you can now download and install the Microsoft Office Suite of applications for free on your Windows and Apple OSX devices. Instructions for doing so are below.  As long as you have an active Cornell College network account you will have full access to the application.

Instructions:

  • Using a web browser, navigate to https://login.microsoftonline.com/?whr=cornellcollege.edu
  • Log in using your Cornell username and password
  • In the Language drop-down, select the preferred language
  • In the Version drop-down, select 32-bit or 64-bit depending on your operating system. If you don’t know which you have please do an Internet search to help you determine which you have. Being able to run 64-bit will provide a better user experience. (Sample search: “How to tell if my Windows 7 is 32 or 64 bit”)
  • Select Install

see Mike’s original email for additional information and system limitations.

IT also recommends a FREE  (a college student’s favorite thing!) antivirus through Microsoft which you can learn more about and download here. Avoid the blue screen of peril and update your tech now!

Incoming Students: do you have more questions about tech and IT on campus? Check out their information for new students for details on the campus network and tech at Cornell. Not bringing a computer? We have a variety of computer labs open to students available on campus!

Happy computing!
